WHAT IS A SACRISTAN?

A Sacristan is the "stage manager" who prepares the altar, church, and chapel for celebration of Mass and other liturgies, and maintains and organizes supplies located in the Sacristy.  The Sacristan also assists altar servers, if they need help preparing for Mass.

A SACRISTAN:

  • Participates in Mass regularly
  • Is organized, and willing to learn about the items used at Mass
  • Is willing to work closely with the Pastor, and other people, including other Sacristans
